Mocha cookie crumble frappuccino recipe

A famous Starbucks coffee order, the mocha cookie crumble is made using mocha coffee: a mixture of coffee and chocolate syrup, and topped with cookie crumble, giving it a chewy texture and taste similar to chocolate chips. Yum!

Starbucks makes it with milk, frappuccino syrup, mocha sauce, frappuccino chips, cookie crumbles, and whipped cream. This drink is perfect for all those with a sweet tooth.

You can make your mocha crumble frappuccino recipe. Here’s ours:

Ingredients

  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup of strong coffee
  • ¼ cup Chocolate sauce
  • 4 Oreo biscuits – or other types of chocolate cookie sandwiches.
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate chips
  • ½ cup of Ice

Method

Step 1: Make the Coffee

The Frappucino we’re making today is a caffeinated drink, so the first step is to make yourself some strong coffee. You can use anything from a Moka pot to a French press; if you’re fancy, you can even draw an espresso shot. Either way, make sure you’re making your coffee strong, or it’ll get overpowered by all the milk and chocolate sauce. We recommend using a darker roast for more robust coffee.

If you own a Mok pot, here’s our guide on how to make good coffee using one: Brew Delicious Moka pot coffee: The Ultimate Guide. If a French Press is more your thing, here’s what you need: How to make coffee with a French press | in 5 easy steps.

Finally, some baristas recommend using cold brew coffee concentrate for cold drinks. If you want to try it, check our tips reading our thorough comparison between iced coffee and cold brew.

Step 2: Bring Out the Blender

The next thing you want to do is transfer your coffee to a blender. Now add ¾ of your crushed Oreos, milk, and chocolate sauce to taste to the blender. You want to blend everything until it’s smooth.

Step 3: Prepare a Serving Glass

We like serving our frappuccino in transparent glass so we can see the magic happening. To your glass, add in your ice and drizzle chocolate sauce on the side. Then pour in your blended coffee and a generous helping of whipped cream. Top the whipped cream with your favorite toppings; we’re big fans of chocolate chips and the 1⁄4 Oreos we had left behind.

Step 4: Enjoy

Your frappuccino is all done. Take a few Instagram-worthy pics and enjoy. Don’t leave it out for long, though, or the ice will water down the drink.

Our Favorite Tips for an Excellent Coffee

Grind Your Coffee

We’ll never get tired of saying this: grinding your coffee can make a difference in the final brew. The longer the coffee grounds are left alone, the more flavor they lose. The strongest and freshest coffee is made by grinding the beans before brewing.

Pre-ground beans lose their oil content over time, which plays a part in changing the final product. The second reason to grind your coffee is easy. All you need is a coffee grinder. Here’s our list of the most affordable grinders: Best Manual Coffee Grinders: Our Guide to Choosing The Best Hand Coffee Grinder: Our Guide to Choosing the Best Hand Grinder.

Dark Chocolate Sauce

The regular chocolate sauce in the market is usually too sweet and will hurt your teeth. Instead, go with dark chocolate sauce for more flavor and less sweetness. Although it’s a small trick, it can elevate the whole experience.

Milk

We love whole milk for our frappucino because it makes for a filling and creamy drink. You can adjust the recipe for your palate by switching out whole milk substitutes such as skim and oat milk, two of the most popular ones requiring a slight change.

Adjusting the plant-based and skimmed milk recipes must decrease the amount of chocolate sauce and coffee.

Xanthan Gum

Do you like your frappuccino thicker and creamier? This trick is for you. After blending your coffee, milk, and cookies, sprinkle a little xanthan gum on the top before mixing again. Xanthan gum is sugar fermented by bacteria and helps thicken mixtures. Adding xanthan gum will give the frappuccino the consistency of a soft serve.

Here’s another fun tip: serve the mixture in a bowl instead of a glass and enjoy it as ice cream.

Twix Frappuccino

The Twix Frappuccino is another popular Starbucks drink with a similar flavor profile to our mocha cookie crumble frappuccino recipe. It has notes of chocolate and caramel and is served with a topping of caramel sugar and chocolate sauce.

Cookies and Cream Frappuccino

Made with a white mocha frap and served with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and cookie crumble, the cookies and cream frappuccino is almost identical to the mocha cookie crumble.
